Steve Thorson, MD - Retired 4/30/15
Dr. Thorson was one of the founding partners of the Family Clinic of Fort Collins beginning in 1974.
The earlier years of his practice encompassed the full spectrum of family medicine, including obstetrics, inpatient care and surgical assisting.
More recent years have focused on outpatient evaluation and treatment, as well as coordination of care with limited specialists and hospitalists.
Steve sincerely believes in taking the time necessary to assure that his patients understand the nature of their diagnoses and the rationale for the treatment plan recommended. His patients are active partners in their care.
He has served as the first Chief of Poudre Valley's Family Medicine Department, as well as Chief of the Obstetrics Department.
Other past offices held include President of the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians and Larimer County Medical Society, Director and Treasurer of the Colorado Medical Society. He currently serves as a publicly elected Director of the Health District of Northern Larimer County, and as a Director of Poudre Valley Health System.
His hobbies include golf and skiing, both yet to be mastered!
His wife is a retired physical therapist, and his two sons are practicing their respective disciplines of chemical engineering and family medicine.

Beginning in January 2015, Dr. Thorson will be working part time (two days per week).
