Hired 1/1/1975 - Retired 12/31/2013
After 40 years of caring and compassionate patient care, Dr. Bender retired in 2013. Although retired, we will always remain in his gratitude for his decades of patient care and all the hours working at The Family Clinic.
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we want to notify you of the recent unexpected death of Dr. Ed Bender.
Dr. Bender joined the Family Clinic back in 1976, and practiced for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2013. Over those many decades, he cared for countless
people, young and old, in the hospital and in the office, delivering many babies, and being a steadfast source of expertise, care and compassion all the while.
Outside of his life as a family physician, he was also an athlete, a diehard sports fan, a singer and musician, an avid gardener, a beekeeper, a keeper of alpacas, an avid traveler (around the US and
around the world), a pillar of the community, and a friend to all.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Marjean, their children Cassandra and Jason, and grandson Cody, as well as brothers, nieces and nephews.
Needless to say, this is a tremendous loss for the community, and specifically for the Family Clinic, where we all knew him best, whether as a physician or as a colleague, but always as a friend.
We offer everyone our deepest condolences, as we too grieve the loss of him.
Ed will truly be missed.
