History/Education
Dr. Matt grew up in the busy Washington, DC suburb of Bethesda, Maryland. He graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia (thanks Thomas Jefferson) with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. From there, he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he met his wife Christie. They ventured west to Pueblo, CO, where he completed his Family Medicine residency, training for rural practice. They enjoyed a true rural practice (providing obsteric, emergency room, and intensive care, as well as outpatient care) in Christie's Appalachian mountain hometown for over a year, before they realized how much they missed Colorado. In 2004, they moved to Fort Collins, and have finally put down permanent roots (with plans of never moving again).
Professional Interests
Dr. Matt's professional interests include pediatrics and care of the athlete, but include a full spectrum of family medicine practice, seeing men and women of all ages, presenting with general wellness goals or specific illness and disease concerns.
Personal Interests
His personal interests include basketball, yoga, weightlifting, skiing (tele's and alpine), snowboarding, mountain/road biking, trail running, coaching his kids' sports teams (he has, amazingly, only gotten thrown out of a game once), any time he can get in the mountains, and time with family and friends. He and his wife Christie have four children (Jonah, Isaac, Naomi, and Abby), a big dog, two cats, a leopard gecko, and never a quiet moment. And that's the way they like it!
